Hub Porteño Hotel Review
Located in the heart of the upscale and stylish Recoleta neighborhood, the Hub Porteño is a relative newcomer to the Buenos Aires luxury hotels scene and fits perfectly to its posh surroundings. This magnificent hotel is a member of the Chic Collection, an online resource for finding the best boutique hotels and inspirational properties to stay during your travels. Here’s how our stay went.
The Hotel
Stepping off the streets and into Hub Porteño is like you’ve travelled to Buenos Aires specifically to visit a close friend at his home. Upon entering the hotel, you are greeted by a doorman as you walk into the white marble entryway thoughtfully designed by Argentine artists. Every detail is purposeful, and upon closer inspection one can notice the handmade leather furniture, hand-carved writing desks, and thoughtful paintings that line the hallways and decorate the suites. Its luxurious feel doesn’t jump out at you, rather, the understated glamour of this townhouse-style hotel is what makes it so unique and inviting.
Our Suite
Hub Porteño has three types of rooms to choose from: Suites, Bacan, and the Grand Suite. Each suite is uniquely and thoughtfully designed with a mix of modern style and sublime antique furniture (you might want to visit a professional antique silver shop if you like this style). In a unique spin, none of the eleven suites are numbered. This adds to the feel that you have been invited into a friend’s home for the weekend. All suites offer stunning views, whether it be looking out directly on the winter garden or to the busy streets.
We had the chance to stay in one of the suites. At first glance, the room takes your breath away when you enter–sky-high ceilings, luxurious bedding, wood floors and open space that exudes warmth and style.
The elegance of the room is supplemented by the gorgeous furniture and thoughtful design touches.
Sometimes, the best part about a hotel room is the bathroom, and this one was a definite winner.
Elegant and spacious, the marble bathroom had top-of-the-line amenities and both a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower with frameless shower doors. I’m obsessed with shower designs at the moment as we’re in the middle of renovating our own bathroom and constantly on the lookout for ideas, and this space provided so much inspiration.
The suite also featured excellent amenities that made our stay a fun and memorable one; Nespresso machine, wine cooler & soft drinks, Wi-Fi, and a top notch ipod & stereo.
Living Room
Hub Porteño has designed the Living Room within their hotel as a meeting point for guests to converse and relax.
We really enjoyed sitting in this lovely sophisticated living room having our afternoon merienda; Every day at 5:00 pm, afternoon tea is served with an assortment of fresh lemonade, cakes and sweets.
Terrace and Wellness Center
Two additions to Hub Porteño are the terrace and Wellness Center which includes full gym, sauna, and treatment rooms.
The rooftop terrace is a peaceful green oasis outfitted with wooden furniture, bright accents and leafy greenery. It’s the perfect spot to relax in the sun or have a cocktail in the evening.
Breakfast
The breakfast is held daily in the stylish Tarquino restaurant, where the menu is varied and the service is both classy and friendly. One of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, Tarquino was also the winner of the Highest New Entry Award, sponsored by LesConcierges.
The breakfast at Tarquino is designed to suit travelers from around the world, and they offer a wide selection of favorite breakfast choices such as sausage, steaks, breads, fruits, yogurts, and waffles. We ordered poached eggs and bacon, but the menu is filled with every variety of egg imaginable, all cooked to perfection.
The Hub Porteño Experience
The hotel is committed to offering each guest a truly unique and outstanding stay. If you’re interested in seeing the stunning architecture throughout Buenos Aires, for example, Hub Porteño will create a 24-hour architectural experience specifically for you. Everything you see, do, or even eat, will have a relation back to the roots and creativity that defines Buenos Aires architecture. And that’s just one example; they can create experiences for traveler that wants to connect to the city–art, gourmet food, tango, music, and shopping. Their aim is to make each and every stay at their hotel unique and special.
From the charming personal service and understated glamour to the opulent suite and stylish amenities, this boutique hotel is a refreshing take and it offers everything travelers to Buenos Aires are looking for, including a few unique touches that you won’t expect.
